The best vacation of my life was on the island of Crete, Greece. My wife and I rented a car and travelled around its West and South seaside. The scenery, the villages, the locals - everything and everyone was just beautiful. The food was superb. Although, if I had to choose only one thing, for me that would have to be the crystal-clear waters of their beaches. My favorite spot was the small village of Loutro - only accessible by boat. A part of me has stayed there ever since, it never came back.

Our 25th anniversary was spent in Negril, Jamaica at a resort called Swept Away. It was magical. It was couples only, no singles or children. Blissfully quiet. Crystal clear water and palm trees up to the edge of the water. Food was fabulous. It was all inclusive, no tipping! If an employee was particularly helpful, you wrote about it on a card at the end of your vacation and the resort rewarded them. White sand, gorgeous flowers. That was some years ago, I hope it is still the same. It was like living in a movie for a week.

Destin. Sugary sands, sunny and warm, a wealth of seafood, and one night I kept slipping the outside guitar guy twenties to play familiar songs for my brother Chris and I to sing to. As you may have guessed, alcohol was involved, since John-Boy rarely sings aloud in public. It’s amazing how just a few margaritas can convince you that you can actually carry a tune AND do so in front of others.

That was also the vacation where I asked Shaunna not to tell me how much everything cost so that I could enjoy living the high life without guilt. Or at least the upper middle class life, which works for me.

Hands down, the best vacation Denise and took was a Norwegian Fjords cruise from Amsterdam. We did a 3-day pre trip in Amsterdam and saw the sights there. The Anne Frank house was amazing and disturbing and thought provoking all at the same time.

The cruise itself was amazing. Having had an obsession with the Norwegian fjords since the 4th grade (I did a report about them)!I wanted to go to Norway and see the fjords. It did not disappoint. We saw waterfalls and greenery and crazy roads and beautiful scenery and trolls too! One of the excursions we took was to Trollstigen and we learned all about the trolls.

Even crushing thru a hurricane (14 foot swells, not too bad lol) it’s the best trip we took and we both can’t wait to go back. The only thing we would do differently is go father north than Bergen and maybe get to see the Northern Lights.

I’ve been in love with WY since I did a NOLS semester when I graduated high school. For our last milestone anniversary, we spent 3 weeks in Wyoming. We spent one week in Yellowstone, exploring that park and Grand Teton NP. Lots of hikes, walks etc. 2nd week we rented a camper van from Motera in Jackson Hole and explored WY, just wandering and then camping wherever we ended up that night. Lots of good, free spots to camp. 3rd week we went to a small ranch named Bitterroot, outside of Dubois. Great week of riding and exploring.

Late to the party, but, my favorite vacation was a trip to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, and Liechtenstein (yes, I had to look up how to spell that), in 1989. My brother was serving in the Army at a base in Grafenwoehr, an old Nazi base complete with etched-in-stone depictions of Nazi helmets over the doorways. My Mom & Dad, sister, and I joined him for 10 days traveling around in a van. My sister kept a diary that I turned into a picture book and just last week, Mom said she'd like us to get together to read it again because it always makes us laugh until we cry. It was an amazing trip and I'm so happy it's in the memory banks, as I've never had another as much fun. My Dad's gone now and Mom's 83, and both my sister and brother are married, so there won't be a redo, but that's okay. I can bring it up in my mind's eye any time I want.
