Lincoln Lawyer-- Great work. I'm a lawyer so I avoid legal dramas because they are usually stress-inducing. But I can't get enough of this series. Good first book, as well.
I enjoy True South (not sucking up because you were in an episode). John T. and Wright really do a fantastic job showing the unique culture of the American South.
Fleischman Is In Trouble-- worth the binge.
What does it say about TV when many of us would rather binge-watch old shows like the West Wing than some of the new offerings?
It's the way it's always been, I think--some shows are really good and others aren't. There are a LOT of shows that came out around the time of West Wing that we don't watch anymore!
I finally got around to watching True South this weekend, and was really impressed. Really really good. I liked Searching for Italy ( but thought season 1 was much better, 2 seemed a bit tossed together last minute).
I’m just about done with SAS Rouge Heroes, it a fun show even if it’s a bit over the top.
Next up is George and Tammy, which I am hoping is great. Watched the first 15 minutes and it has Walter Goggins,Michael Shannon & Jessica Chastain, so my fingers are crossed
Watched “Glass Onion” over the weekend and thought it was as good as the first. I didn’t see Edward Norton as a Musk/Bezos figure but more of a Daniel Snyder (especially since he’s about to fall back again into a truckload of cash when he sells the team).
We're going to watch Glass Onion in a couple of nights and I can't wait! Looking forward to George & Tammy, too. Thanks for the kind words on TrueSouth.
Read the Longmire books, Tommy. They are so good. And Landis Wade did an extended Charlotte Readers Podcast with Craig Johnson a couple years back that made me love the books even more.
The Lincoln Lawyer has captured my heart! I read the books before I found the Netflix series! I can’t wait for the next season of the LL! (I’m bummed about Dansby Swanson saying the Cubs have the greatest fans! Grrrr.)
I'll definitely check out Shoresy. State of Happiness is a wonderful character-driven drama. It tells the story of the early days of oil in Norway. Some subtitles but worth it. For All Mankind is set in the 60s, the Americans are behind the Russians in the space race. All great human drama.
Three Pines on Netflix. Based on the mystery book “Fatal Grace” by renowned Canadian author Louise Penny.
My husband and I recently binged season 1. I especially appreciated the way the story taps into a severe problem in Canada (and the U.S., too): the disappearance of young Indigenous women and the lack of effort by law enforcement to find them, but there is so much more to appreciate, beautiful Canadian scenery and great acting.
Since you’re familiar with Louise Penny books and characters, let me know what you think about Alfred Molina cast as Chief Inspector Gamache??(He’s exactly as I imagined!)Also, regarding Indigenous comment in plot which is a significant continuation through Season 1, all actors are Indigenous lending credibility and sincere emotional impact! Hope you enjoy! Really looking forward to Book ideas next week📚🤓 Happy New Year 🎉
I enjoyed Lincoln Lawyer, as well. I’ve also begun bingeing The Blacklist and have found myself fascinated with the twists and turns. We’ve been discussing the Reacher show. My Mom is a huge fan of the books, but I expect I’d need to check it out for shock value before recommending it to her.
There are a couple of scenes in the series that are pretty gruesome even compared to the books. My mother-in-law handled them OK, but it's worth a heads-up.
You turned us on to Shoresy this year. Thanks for that.

We got Alix's mom the first four Longmire books for Christmas. I'm definitely going to poach those at some point.
For sure!

Dansby is saying what he needs to say. Just like Freddie, I wish he'd stayed but I understand.

Hadn't heard of State of Happiness! I'll check it out.

WOW--I didn't know about Three Pines. The Louise Penny books are required reading at our house. We'll definitely check out the series. Thanks!
