Tommy, I read Dogland overnight, in less than 24 hours. It is outstanding. You did a fantastic job. My favorite part, though, oddly enough, or maybe not, was the “in between” chapter about Fred. Beautiful writing. Congratulations.

Thank you so much, Brian. That part about Fred was obviously special to me. I'm so glad it meant something to you.

Tommy, I have not read my book although it came in the mail last week I think. I had pre-ordered it back in July 2023 and it was part of that 350+ books you signed at Park Rd. Books! I had it inscribed for my daughter and she will be getting it after I read it! Anyway, I don’t know if it’s karma or what in the universe but the fact that this book has come out right around the same time as the revelation about Kristi Noem executing her 14 month old puppy because it wouldn’t behave the way she wanted it to is just an amazing coincidence ( and that’s all I’ll say about that). Hope to see you in person at one of these events.

I'm trying not to say too much about Kristi Noem, either!

The book was fantastic, which was exactly as I expected. I’m not much of a dog person. I had them earlier in life but was converted to cats by my ex. Nonetheless, I couldn’t put the book down. Thank you and I can’t wait for your next book!

At the library event on April 23, you mentioned that dogs helped humans do the work that needed to be done. My grandparents were raising 3 rambunctious boys (and one shy girl) on the plains of Kansas during the Dust Bowl. My grandmother said that the dog, Fido, was the best babysitter she had ever had: letting the boys run and explore but corralling them in when needed. Thank you for reminding me of that family story.
