A book that explores our backwaters, plus my weekly shareables: new rules in baseball, an old hotel in New York, and the Boston Marathon's favorite dog
I also recently read Riverman after it was recommended to me. It is one of the top reads of the year, for sure! I'm all for more old, weird America and putting in the work to slow down.
I had a firsthand experience meeting President Jimmy Carter on my flight from CLT-RDU on 1/11/2001. He had just completed a book signing at Park Road Books for “An Hour Before Daylight” and was heading for his next event. I purchased his book earlier and planned to attend the event, but alas I had to work. That afternoon I was a Flight Attendant and President Carter was one of my passengers along with 2 Secret Service agents. We had a full flight. I was star struck!! He was seated in front and after everyone boarded, yes he did go through the cabin and greet everyone. No one complained and the vibe was very positive, not like we experience today. He signed my book, we talked a little, but what I remember most to this day were his striking blue eyes that “twinkled” and his gravitas!
Thank you for Summertime. Wow.
excellent, again!
Thanks for the tribute to President Carter.
