Thank you for this article. My dad loved salt water fishing and I have many memories out in the boat in Miami, Key Largo and Key West. Special times, quiet times, sharing a can of ginger ale or a pineapple slice sandwich with spicy Derkees mustard.🤗

Beautiful column, Tommy. IMy father died when I was less than a year old and I’ve always wondered what memories we could have shared. Reading about the ones you shared with your father makes me realize even more what I missed.

Thank you for sharing these memories. Your dad sounds like a wonderful dad and it brings back good memories for me too. A kind, unassuming, good man who loves the water and his family - just the best.

This was beautiful, sir! Thank you. You have a special gift with not just words, but the power and pathos behind them. You should be a writer or something…..

Thank you for sharing your memories with us. Not only he still talks to you in your dreams, I am also sure he has read your tribute, as well.

My father is alive but we live far from each other, and I miss him daily. I'd give anything to live my childhood and teenager times with him again, and to do the same thing all over again - only now with the consciousness that each moment is the most precious gift.

He would be so blooming proud of you, Tommy. Of course, he always was, I know.

Almost every column has that gulp moment when your eye prick and your throat clenches. You take a breath and hope it's going away. You don't want to cry right now. Maybe later when your own Dad will come back to speak to you. Or come for you which would be a comfort knowing you are always safe in his arms. We always miss them.

This post brought back so many fond memories of fishing with my Dad...in creeks, rivers, and the sea where he was constantly seasick but loved the sport enough to endure the agony. Happy Father's Day!
