Hey, Noem hitched her wagon to the Trump train early and with vigor. And he basked in her validation of his policies and ideas. Not much of a stretch….
Well thank you for that nonsense. When politicians endorse each other — and these two bottom feeders have exchanged endorsements on multiple occasions— you can most certainly and rationally link them. Only an irrational acolyte of one would try to shrink their connection in embarrassment.
I fear you are new to the game of politics and just what an endorsement means in the Land of Low Morals and Excellent Excuses. I must confess, I did not have Puppy Blood Bath on my GOP Shenanigans Bingo Card , but many political observers believed early that the Cream Sicle Rapist could inspire his acolytes to model his cruel and vicious behavior and then brag about it. From slagging former American prisoners of war, denigrating the disabled to grabbing the genitals of any passing female, The Rapist has proven himself proud of abhorrant behavior without shame. Need a psychopath to lead you? Bingo!
Richard, I'm not saying she shot the dog because of Trump. But I am saying she told the story because she thought it might score her points with his fans. And given the way he's talked about women, immigrants, people with disabilities, etc., I can see where she thought it made sense.
Well that's some mind reading. Maybe she told the story because it's true, and she (erroneously) thought it made her look tough. And as for Trump, this is politicized babble. One can find your interpretation from your side, and the opposite from the other.
Yes, Mr. Donnelly is the mind reader here, the one with Trump's short list of VP candidates and the ability to discern Ms. Noem's wants and needs. And he's the only one with the political babble we should be listening to. As another wag observed, Republican voters want cruel candidates. Candidates who will harm their perceived enemies. Candidates who would execute their smug libtard neighbors’ pets like their persistently farting, dozing idol who proposed we nuke hurricanes.
I’ve been haunted by her act of cruelty all week. Wretched.
Congratulations on all the comments on your book. I am loving it! And telling everyone I come in contact with that they too would love it. Hope sales are soaring.
I was waiting to hear what you had to say about the canine killer of the bad lands. Unlike most click bait American news stories, this one actually made it here to France, appearing as a segment on a popular news satire show that routinely roasts and toasts politicians from around the world. What surprised me isn’t that a MAGA conservative would shoot a disappointing hunting pup in cold blood, but that he/she would be so insulated from decent society that she believed bragging about it would be a good idea. But that’s the MAGA world I ran away from seven years ago to live as an expat, so I shouldn’t be so shocked. However, living away from the harshness of American culture and having spent more than 20 years training dogs for obedience trials, my own perspective is rather skewed. BTW, I finished “Dogland” last week by downloading the audiobook; my pre_ordered copy went to my American house. I drove the coastline of Sicily in the cold and windy rain cheered by your wonderful writing. I finished two Pembroke Welsh Corgis ( one was a CH.ROM) and you pretty much got it right. Interesting subculture made more interesting by the dogs.
That image will stick in my head--you listening to the book as you drove the coast of Sicily. Thank you for telling me that and for reading/listening. This means the world to me.
Firstly, I am half way through DOGLAND and I am loving it. Secondly, this woman’s behaviour is deplorable. But so is the behaviour of the man she dutifully follows. You have summed this whole thing up perfectly. As you always do. Thank you.
I had to put down my little Sidney a couple of months ago. Health issues. She was pushing 17 years. I miss her more than I thought I would.
Sidney had terrible issues with incontinence and became senile. Yes, she ruined a rug and damaged some of the floors. Kept me up nights with her pacing around. All replaceable-including my lost sleep. I took steps to help her out. But one endures inconveniences for those you love. When she lost that happy look in her eyes, that little hop she did whenever she saw me, I knew it was time.
Maybe I'm just too much of a dog lover. But Ms. Noem's story really disturbed me. It is certainly a telling testament to her character. Glad we know this sooner and not later. Hate to think how she treats anyone expressing a contrary thought. Or acts in ways she finds objectionable.
Yeah, like Mittens was so dumb he didn’t realize the poor dog’s loose stool was a stress reaction to being terrorized in a crate perched on top of a moving car. That’s the kind of smart America might deserve but definitely doesn’t need.
I have to think Noem will reap her just rewards soon enough. And I, for one, cannot wait. Just got our copy of Dogland from Park Road yesterday...thanks for the inscription and here's to sunnier, dog-filled days ahead!
Hooking Trump to Noem's ghastly treatment of a companion animal is quite the stretch. But hey, he's blamed for everything else, so why not? : )

Thanks Valerie but sorry, not rational. Just because you like someone publicly doesn't make you responsible for their private sins.

Logic is not "nonsense", but the opposite. Yours is the Guilt by Association fallacy, in exactly the way I pointed out.

Let the insults fly! It's so much easier than addressing an argument : )
Why do you think she told the story on herself in her memoir that was an application to be Trump's replacement vp?
Well that's assuming that's what she wants. Which is doubtful, as she's waaaay down the list
Mr. Donnelly of course has access to the list...and the wants and needs of the puppy killer. He's the "rational" commenter here.
No access, other than the news

You're basting yourself in partisan rhetoric like a holiday goose : )

Thank you, Betty!

Driving the coast of Sicily is balm for the tired soul, as is your writing.
Firstly, I am half way through DOGLAND and I am loving it. Secondly, this woman’s behaviour is deplorable. But so is the behaviour of the man she dutifully follows. You have summed this whole thing up perfectly. As you always do. Thank you.
Thank you, Barb!
Thank you. This was well said.

There is better out there.
There is better out there. You did right by Sidney. That's part of our responsibility--to know when it's time.
Despicable. Deplorable. Disgusting.
It was a hard week in Charlotte.
Men killed and injured at work.
Dogs shot. Not just in South Dakota.
Children left without fathers.
Women widows.
Depressing.
Yes. A very tough week.
Cricket is standing on the shoulders of Mitt Romney's sheep dog riding who rode the roof of the Romney family station wagon. Romney told the Boston Globe (https://www.bostonglobe.com/news/politics/2007/06/27/journeys-shared-life/LEMII8YOrwpH8zmhlH5x1J/story.html?p1=BGSearch_Advanced_Results) how the planned trip and his reaction to the dog's diarhea running down the back windshield was evidence of his great "emotion-free crisis management". Most of us did not agree.
