I’m really enjoying your Writing Shed emails, Tommy! Thanks. Regarding the ATM envy piece, it’s easy to immediately wish we had that much money in our checking account. But we truly have no idea of the circumstances behind that large $ amount. My best friend is still mourning the loss of his wife and 18 year old son at the hands of a repeat DUI felon two+ years ago. He’s received several large cash payments since - life insurance, settlements from the nightclub where the driver was drinking, etc. But he’d give every penny back to have his wife and son instead. And despite his best attempts to move on, he’s lost. Calls himself the “miserable multi-millionaire widower.”

Don’t mean to be morbid here, but can’t assume it’s all flowers and champagne just because someone has that kind of cash in a checking account.

Thanks again for your work!

Regarding No. 2 and redistricting, one of the things we learn from sport is to whine about the bad call for a minute after the game ends, and then to shrug our shoulders and start getting ready for the next game. You don't keep saying you should have won a game two years ago.

PS - Political science professors I respect say that the new Congressional map should be six red districts and four blue, with four toss-up. I think that matches our population well enough, for now. It's not the 11-3 nightmare we had, anyway.
