You hit the nail on the head, my friend. After losing my husband to cancer and my mom to COVID, life suddenly seems so short. God blessed me with a wonderful man in Chad, so I am one of the fortunate few. Staying in contact with people that mean a lot to us is so important. You will always be one of my best friends from high school. Love ya, dude! Oh... and by the way... PIRATES RULE! LOL
Happy birthday Tommy, great piece this morning. I lived in the Keys when Buffett still lived there and you’d see him riding his beat up red bike. I knew that A Pirate looks at 40 was a real guy but didn’t know who. Thanks, I always learn something when I read your stuff.
Thanks brother. I know you were one of those Keys guys back then--I was wondering if you knew that story. Hope you had a good holiday. I'll be in touch about getting together.
Happy birthday Tommy! I hit 61 the week before. Wow, “61” looks older than it feels. I just switched to a paid subscription when I realized how much I look forward to your Friday morning posts. You never disappoint and you’ve turned me on to so much good music and writings and more. Thanks so much.
If you can find it, try to locate a DVD of a film called “Tarpon” which is a fishing film I think set in they late 70s-early 80s Key West. Soundtrack is a pre-famous Jimmy Buffet, and if I remember correctly Jim Harrison was in there too. Great look back at the Keys when everyone was busy catching square grouper 😀
Love your birthday musings. Right there with ya.
Thank you, Chris!

Annmarie--So sorry to hear about your husband and mom. I'm so glad you and Chad are thriving. We're the mighty mighty Pirates :)
Love,

Thank you Spils! Now that you're 61, you're gonna have to tell me what the future is like :)

Thanis for this! I'll take a look.
Happy birthday, T, and Happy New Year to you and Alex. Love that version of “A Pirate Looks at 40.”
Thanks, buddy. Buffett wrote some melancholy stuff. Even "Margaritaville" is not exactly a peppy tune.
Reading about Sister Andre will put your 59th birthday in perspective.
