Geddy Lee of Rush. Still best friends with the guy he met in 8th grade and they're revitalized and on a joyful tour together. Still married to his first wife. Musician, collector, author, humanitarian, traveler, wine enthusiast. Donated his large collection of Negro Leagues baseballs to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum because "it was the right thing to do." Pushing himself to be better than ever on stage at 73!
Sorry about your roommates! I guess that means you won't be at the shows in Charlotte, lol. We'll be there both nights because life is short and we need the joy. Our adult son is joining us, too!
Ha! So since I checked two days ago, the GLP-1 post has made it to #1 ... #2 is my Pub Day interview with Chris Jones--that book is about suicidal thoughts and I suspect a lot of people shared it. And #3 was the piece I did last year about the ICE raids in Charlotte.
The numbers are always going to have a little recency bias because the number of people who subscribe has grown quite a bit over the years. A good problem to have!
In 2024, we found ourselves in London with my niece and nephew (there for a Taylor Swift show), but one of the better evenings of our trip was spent with a friend who lives in Richmond at Mae’s pub that was used as the set for the first season (was rebuilt on a sound stage after). The alley way where Ted’s flat is and the bench where he and Beard often found themselves … all exactly as they appear in the show. (So yep, one of the tourists!)
I agree with Barack Obama, Tom Hanks, Prince William and Princess Katherine, Ronan Farrow, Michael J Fox, Taylor Swift, Bob Woodward, Dan Rather…
Seemed like it, but maybe not: Robin Williams, Brad Pitt, Rob Reiner, (fill in your favorite politician), Paula Dean, Matthew Perry, Luigi Mangione, my front door neighbors who are moving today :).
She LOVES her life and herself. She has a baffling successful cabaret show despite being a shitty singer. That encapsulates her world in a nutshell, she sincerely believes she's a talented singer while everyone else hears otherwise and because of how entertaining it is to watch a delusion person perform people continue to attend her shows thus fueling her belief she's a talented singer. I wish I had this level of delusion.
Messi I think is another athlete that fits. He makes it look so easy, he famously walks 60+% of the time he’s on the pitch.
That's a really good one. He always seems to be in such control.
Barack Obama. Humble. Authentic care for others. Even if he wasn’t the perfect president. No such thing exists. Ever
Until fairly recently, I thought Bill Murray had it all figured out. Sadly, maybe not so much.

That's a good one! I had several Rush-loving roommates in college and got a little overloaded on them :) But Geddy does seem like a good dude.

Honkey Cat - thanks for making that the head-song for the day!
I would add to the list of those who have/had it all figured out:
Tom Hanks
Paul McCartney
Linda McCartney
Now to think of people I know personally who have it all figured out. Hmm. . . .
Tom Hanks especially is a great choice!
Scottie Scheffler, easily.
His press conferences on his "why" for playing capture what he's all about
Good call. Although at some point you see the strain on EVERY golfer. I started to put Jack Nicklaus on the list.
Well, now I want to know what are the first- and second- most-read posts in the history of the Shed! You can't just dangle the third one :-)

How cool! If I ever end up in London again, I'll have to make a side trip.

Michael J. Fox especially is a really interesting one ... he sure does seem to handle all that as well as you possibly could.
Stephen Colbert. Joe Maddon. Fr Greg Boyle. And to tie into Ted Lasso, maybe Jason Sudeikis?
Colbert especially handled losing his job so elegantly...
Bruce Springsteen - also agree with Tom Hanks who has been suggested and Stephen Colbert
Sir David Attenborough
Now THAT is a good call.
Luann De Lessups (real housewives of NYC)
I don't know any of the real housewives ... what makes her a candidate?

Ina Garten has life figured out. Her memoir is a must read … her life has not been “perfect”, but her mindset and outlook sure are.
The writers Louise Penny and Ann Patchett seem like good fits for this.
Ann Patchett is right on. I don't know much about Louise Penny other than her books...
