Tommy, your posts nearly always evoke a thought I want to comment on--like my answers to the Steven Colbert questionnaire--but I'm always eager to return to my own writing project. This time I'm taking the time to write something, but don't have anything to say. How about that!
I’m a Celtics fan by birth but a sports fan above all. If we’re watching a game with teams I don’t particularly care about, my youngest son will inevitably ask, “Who are we rooting for?” My answer is always the same: “Just a good game.”
Well, those Knicks delivered again and again. I agree with your point that the Spurs wore themselves down. Wemby looked exhausted.
And then there was the added plot line of KAT’s mom. His post-game interview with Lisa Salters ruined me. I too look for signs from my mom and will take any I can get. I couldn’t help but root for KAT — and, goodness, the Knicks?! — after that. And upon seeing Brunson’s embrace with his Dad after winning it all, my heart melted a bit more.
I loved KAT's connection with his mom, too. It's funny--this team had so few haters compared to so many other recent champions. Even fans of other teams (mostly) enjoyed seeing these guys win.
Happy for the Knicks. Wondering what happened to all of us that did the Colbert ?? Thought we'd get some of your witty feedbacks and so far crickets. We love ya anyway Tommy!
Stole my thunder. I think the Stanley Cup is way more difficult to win The best teams do not always make it to the final. The Avanache had the most points. They went out early. While Vegas led their division they were the team with the third lowest point total this year and made it to the final. This is the 3rd time in 9 years they have made it to the ffinals. I think hockey is more physical than basketball. I have no idea how they even stand up from some of the hits they.
To you and Mitta ... I'd put the Stanley Cup a strong #2 (and congrats to the Canes!). I do feel that hockey, in general, leaves a little more to chance ... there are so many goals that result from wild deflections. It seems like a lesser team has a little bit better chance to win. But still definitely a hard road. And Mitta, I have not seen Gods of Tennis ... I'll check it out!
I just finished watching both seasons of Patience on PBS passport yesterday. I wondered has Tommy and Alix watched this? And hears the answer. I totally agree that the autism support group adds a lot to the show. I also appreciate the slowly unfolding romance.
Endure is THE key component in life. Way back in college, Resilience was thought to be the key ingredient to success. Well, yes, to life. Thanks for saying so and being so.
We're going to convert you yet.
I lived with four Rush fanatics my senior year in college. There's a lot of trauma to overcome.
"You often win just by sticking around." This is what I needed to read today - thanks, Tommy!
Thanks, Micah! Can't wait to see your next project...

It's always good just to hear from you.
If your prog-rock phase is still in play, I suggest you might give this one a try.

Oh man, that's a heartbreaker. I do love that chord progression. That one will stick in my head a while. Thank you for sharing it.

I’m still a Celtics fan. Dang it. I am!

Loved the quite unexpected inclusion of a Tomlinson-approved recipe. Going to try it - and I do have a 12-inch cast iron skillet.
Our skillets are a hair smaller (10 inches, I think) but it works just fine.
oh man that baseball story! ⚾️
Isn't that something?
Totally agree about sticking around, not giving up. It resonates on more than one level!
Tell me about it...
A great metaphor!
Ha--thought some folks might like that...

Um, just fyi, the Stanley Cup playoffs for the NHL title is also four rounds best of seven. Also hard to win! :-)
I loved your watching through the windows piece and thanks for the recipe - that sounds delicious!
Did you watch the "Gods of Tennis" PBS documetary series about the players in the 70s and 80s? I thought it was great.

We are very pro-Elliot in this household :)

Thank you, Barbara!
Sticking around.
Optimism. Resilience. Kindness.
