We resume the Love and Slobber Tour tonight at the beautiful Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh, joined by my friend Bronwen Dickey. Tonight is also the night when Westminster picks its Best In Show, so it’ll be sort of like doing a baseball book event while the World Series is on. The good news is that, like the World Series, the dog show runs late—they don’t announce Best In Show until about 11 pm Eastern. We’ll have you home by then, I promise.
Two quick updates before we head out on the road:
—I mentioned the other day that seeing the northern lights was on my bucket list. I didn’t get to see them last week, but Monday morning I woke up to find another item sort of checked off: I turned up in the New Yorker magazine.
To be more precise, a lovely review of DOGLAND is in the New Yorker, written by Kathryn Schulz, one of my favorite writers—go check out her book LOST AND FOUND, a beautiful meditation on love and grief.
My bucket-list item is to actually write a piece for the New Yorker, and who knows, maybe that’s still in play, but I’m going to count this one anyway. Apparently it will be in next week’s print edition as well. That, too, will be quite the thrill.
—I also wanted to let you know that I’ve revamped my website, tommytomlinson.com. It’s got portals to my books, my podcast SOUTHBOUND, this newsletter, and an archive of some of my old stories. We haven’t quite pounded the last nails and put on the last coat of paint, so there might be some glitchy spots … if you see anything that looks weird, or if there’s something you’d like to see on the site, let me know.
Major thanks to Rashell O’Neal for doing all the hard work to put the new site together. She’s a treat to work with. If you need someone to design you a website, contact her at rashell@pricklestudios.com.
On to Raleigh, then Southern Pines, then Charleston! Hope to see you on the road.

That's fantastic news, what a thrill! Congrats!
What a wonderful write up in the New Yorker, Tommy! I can’t wait to read your new book (Guess it would help if I bought a copy). Any chance your tour will take you to Greensboro again?
